Where will I be located?
• The graduate programme is based on a rotation of placements around different projects in the UK. Therefore you may be located at any one of our sites for periods of time including Derby and London.
What is the salary and package?
• Your starting salary will be £25,000 with a sign on bonus of £2,000.
• The package also includes £3,760 of benefits including: 25 days paid holiday, private healthcare, pension and the option to buy and sell your holiday!
How much can I expect to earn after the 2 year Graduate Programme?
• Typically, you can expect to earn around £28,000 - £29,000 however this is dependent on your performance throughout the programme and the type of role you've acquired for your first appointment.
Can I apply for a graduate job in a specific part of the business?
• No, not initially. You will need to complete the graduate programme first. We are seeking graduates for Bombardier Transportation and want to provide experiences within the organisation for you to then make an informed decision once familiar with our business. You will be informed of all vacancies within the business through our 'internal vacancies board' so as your career develops you can identify the right opportunities for you.
Is there any flexibility on the start date?
• Our graduate programme begins in September 2010, however you can start your career the summer before the programme begins if you so wish.
Will I be able to gain professional qualifications?
• Yes. Bombardier will fully support you to gain Chartership / Professional qualification, whether that is in Engineering, Procurement or Project Management.
How do I apply for a graduate position with Bombardier?

Your application form should take no more than about 30 minutes to complete.
Can I defer my start date?
• No. The Graduate Programme is run with an induction programme and core training modules and it is therefore preferable that all Graduates start at the same time. This also helps all the Graduates to bond and become a team right from the outset.
How many graduates do you employ each year?
• In 2010 we anticipate taking over 10 graduates.
Do you have a Drugs and Alcohol Policy?
• At final interview stage all candidates will undergo a pre-employment medical, alongside a Drugs and Alcohol test. The alcohol limits that the company applies are less than a third of the current Drink Driving limit. Use of illegal drugs and controlled substances will result in a positive drugs test.
What is the social life like at Bombardier as a graduate?
• Fantastic! Each year’s graduates form their own 'Graduate Committee'. The committee takes the lead in arranging social events and allows all graduates to network and support each other outside of the day-to-day demands of their job. |
